S.H.A.P.E. is a comprehensive program of Health and Physical Education
General goals of the S.H.A.P.E. program are:
·-To enhance the physical and mental development of each child
·-To develop skills to serve as a basis for lifetime recreation and physical fitness
·-To develop positive interaction and cooperation
·-To develop knowledge of good nutrition, good health habits, and safety habits.
·-To develop knowledge of human body; capabilities and limitations
Philosophy of K-8 Physical Education/Exercise Science Curriculum of the Archdiocese of Louisville states: Curriculum reflects Catholic values, Allows for all students to reach their fullest potential Spiritually, Intellectually, Physically, Socially and Emotionally
Goals:
-Foster understanding of sportsmanship and cooperation
-Enhance self-esteem
-Develop age appropriate social skills
-Foster acceptance of physical abilities and limitations of self and others
-Promote critical and creative thinking skills/expression
Expectations of Students:
-Treat others with kindness and respect
-Encourage others
-Laugh with others, not at others
-Make positive, good choices
-Cooperationvery important!
-Christian attitude and behavior
-Wear tennis shoes to class
-Always ask "May I. . "
-Always answer "Yes" or Yes Ma’am"
