Mrs. Hettinger was born in Pewee Valley, Kentucky and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Holy Family Elementary School and Durrett High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Spalding University and a Masters Degree as a reading specialist from the University of Louisville.

She began her teaching career at St. Athanasius with the 1991-92 school year. She taught second grade her first year and then transferred to kindergarten which she thoroughly loves. Her passion is in helping the "little ones" learn to read.

Mrs. Hettinger is married and has two daughters and two grandchildren. She enjoys playing with her grandchildren, watching her grandson’s ball games, reading, walking in the park and working in her flower garden.
