Mrs. Amanda Brown, Eighth Grade
My name is Amanda Marie Brown. I have a BA in Languages and Literature from Nicholls State University, a small college in South Louisiana, where I was born and raised. I missed college graduation to take a one-in-a-lifetime trip to Australia on a work visa. I grew up more than ever on that trip as I was left to my own devices for much of it. I came home and decided that teaching English was the one thing that I really wanted to do, so I began classes in a Non-Master’s Program. I began teaching Adult Education then moved on to Corrective Reading for 6th – 8th graders. Finally, I moved to 8th grade English and Language Arts for my last two years in Louisiana. I met my husband, Chris Brown, during that last year, and we dated long distance until marrying. I substituted in JCPS and was extremely excited to get this teaching position at St. A’s. I am so glad to have my own classroom again and to be a part of this amazing faculty and community of students and parents! Chris and I just had our first baby together, Emmy, and we both love every minute we can spend with her. Perhaps my Master’s degree will have to wait. Here’s hoping for a great year! |
