A Message From Our Principal, Mrs. Diane Arrow

Dear Family,

Hello and welcome to the St. Athanasius School Website. St. Athanasius is a Catholic elementary school that opened its doors in 1960. We are located in the Highview area near Fern Creek. We are the home of the Hornets.

We introduce a child to the life-long learning process with our 4-year-old, pre-kindergarten program. This program is a safe, structured, and fun atmosphere to spark interest, teach life skills, and inspire faith.

From there, children can continue growing and becoming part of our faith based community in grades kindergarten through eighth. Many of our graduates continue to support our Parish and school - we have truly been a part of their lives from Baptism through Confirmation.

Currently our school teaches over 500 students and has a teaching staff of 22 not to mention our teacher aides, resource teacher, and counselor. Ninety-eight percent of our teachers hold a Master’s Degree. While the school and teachers provide the tools and instruction to help students achieve, we can not do it without parental involvement and support. A child’s success at school depends on all of us in this community.

Each family is given a school handbook, which provides practical information as well as policies and guidelines for the governance of our school. Parents are urged to read the handbook and discuss it with their child.

Our school’s events are consistently updated on our webpage so that parents always know what opportunities are available to their child – whether it is sacramental, educational, athletic, or fundraising you will be able to find out what you need to know.
